Cupcake Custom Creations
Cupcake Custom Creations started with a "DREAM" and materialized through the Cupcake Cattle Company. All day long, I have mini videos playing through my head of "OH, what I could do with that!!" And from there my imagination just goes wild. Inside my head is a busy place--it would tire you just to hear about it, so I won't bore you with that.
With decades and parents and grandparents that were creators of all things beautiful, I could not help but get some of that talent. I have sewn since I was able to sit high enough in the chair to see the sewing machine and reach the foot pedal. There has NEVER been a time in my life that I was not "CRAFTING" some project--large or small, whether I knew how or not. My dad always told me there was nothing I could not do and I guess I believed him--if I don't know, I figure it out.
My mom was a professional seamstress, sewing very complicated and detailed projects with absolute perfection. My sister is a master builder and interior designer of multi-million dollar homes that can compete --AND WIN----against anything you might see on HGTV!!!
I was blessed to marry a man that can and WILL build or fix ANY crazy idea I come up with ---big or small, He can fix anything, including any piece of furniture, shore it up or strengthen it. And through my partnership with Laura at Cupcake Cattle, has come the encouragement I needed to bring that 'DREAM" to reality. She is a master marketer, but more importantly, she is a trusted friend who never lets me lose sight of the "DREAM!"
What better combination and background could one ask for to jump right in??
The Process and Pricing
The work that goes into re-inventing a chair is unimaginable, if you have not done it. Every chair is stripped to the frame. Each layer is carefully removed one at a time. Hundreds upon hundreds of staples and nails are removed from each layer. If needed, the chair frame is tightened at all joints-- OR completely reworked. Depending on the how the chair was originally made, the springs may have to be retied or replaced. The burlap or jute webbing most always is replaced to secure the chair padding. Each chair is cleaned, possibly stripped, sanded, and either re-stained or painted. Some paint processes take MULTIPLE layers of tedious work blending, smoothing and sealing. At the very least the wood will all be reconditioned. New cushions are placed and covered with Dacron wrap. SO, so very much work is done before the fun part of recovering ever even starts!
So often when I am asked about pricing, and I hesitate, it is not that I am shying away from the question, but there are so many unknow variables with each and every chair. The other thing that can make hundreds, if not thousands of dollars difference, is the choice of fabrics, leather, wools, hair on hide, angora long hair, fringe, custom prints on leather, specialty western fabric nails, etc., that you choose for your project. Not only are those choices more expensive, but they require very specialized skill and equipment to work with. Keep in mind, especially with Pendleton Wools or any fabric with a LARGE repeat in pattern, it will take much more fabric than actually required to make the patterns match and line up correctly--especially if you are purchasing two matching chairs. There is a lot of waste in those projects, however, that expense still has to be figured into the price of the chair(s). I will give you the option of assuming the left over fabric when you take possession of the chair, or if you have no use for it, I will keep it.
We work together through a consulting and design process. Once you choose a chair, and we determine the fabrics you will want, I can provide an estimate, but even with that, when I start breaking down a chair, that price can change and I make provisions in the contract for that. With that said, I know that with ANY purchase, especially a custom purchase, you want to know what it will cost. As you scroll below, you will see some finished and sold projects and I have listed prices. You also see many pieces that I have in my inventory that are ready to become your dream piece, and with those, I have listed a "starting at" price. I hope this will help initially, as we hone in on a finalized price for your project.
All items can be shipped with cost dependent on location, but typically around $400 per piece for standard freight.
Cowgirl Gold

Cowgirl Gold was a very personalized chair that incorporated three different and very personal elements. The front of the chair was designed around a business logo and the Cowgirl Confident logo, using a very high quality fabric that was professionally printed. Cowgirl Confident is a nation-wide event branded by the client that brings cowgirls together from across the US to learn, share and develop relationships in a hands-on learning event. The back of the chair was a design that memorialized the Cowgirl Gold business. Cowgirl Gold was founded by the client's mom and now passed on to the client. "GOLD" or yellow was the color that the vision started around. The other fabrics, the Pendleton Wool fabric, the black leather and the fabric print were all chosen so as to coordinate and highlight the "GOLD" or yellow. This chair was made as a gift and a surprise with input from the clients daughter and presented to the client at the Cowgirl Confident. Check out and join Cowgirl Confident at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1349726119304514
A very personalized chair similar to this recreated would start around $2,000.
Branded Cowhide

The Branded Cowhide pair was such a FUN pair to create. The client told me basically that her color scheme was neutral--greys/blacks/whites. She had no preconceived idea of how she wanted the final product so gave me FULL CREATIVE reign. She did not request her brand on there but one of my favorite things is personalizing. I designed the western yolk and had my friends at Accent Embroidery https://accent-embroidery.com/ do the brand for the top. One of the VERY BEST in the business if you need custom printing or embroidery work done--call Rhonda and tell her Cupcake sent you! These chairs were delivered to an event and the unveiling was one of the funest parts!!
These large wingback chairs were priced at $3,000 each.
Summer Harvest

The Summer Harvest pair --wow what a transformation--maybe my very favorite. Although this pair was presold--I had absolute 100% creative freedom. While the chair frame on this pair was amazingly solid, everything else required complete replacement. After cleaning and prepping the wood, I applied some fun, but subtle, painting techniques to the frame that added incredible detail. The Pendleton, suede, and leather just came together in such a way as to make these chairs spectacular, yet very sophisticated in a quiet way. I had a neutral trim in mind--when Laura and I went shopping all over the city for what I had in mind and did not find it, Laura suggested that I use a bold trim--not a neutral. She picked out the blue. I looked at that from every angle--asked the sales clerk who was a hard yes on the combo, but still, I was hesitant. We left the store with the leather. Even after I arrived home, I doubted if this was the right one. I started hand cutting strips to make my trim, put a piece on just to "size up" my thoughts. It was an immediate WOW and an immediate YES! Laura for the win on this one!!!
These chairs were priced at $2,500 each.
Rocking Beauty

Rocking Beauty was a gift. Over they years, I have made so many different things, memory quilts being something I LOVE to do when I have the time. When doing those, I can get lost in my work--I turn on my Christian music, I pray for the one I am making the quilt for--- and this chair was one of those labor of love projects just like the memory quilts. Laura and I knew we wanted to give a Rocking Chair to a very special couple in our worlds who were expecting their first baby, but it could not be just any rocking chair. It had to be the right one. It had to match the nursery. It had to carry a western theme. AND IT HAD TO be comfy. Together we searched out the chair, we picked the fabric, leather, and all the trim and this is the result. Isn't she lovely???? When I started stripping this chair, I got a surprise! This chair had the original stuffing of saw dust and horse hair! While I had to dispose of all of that, clean intensely, and replace with quality foam and dacron, there was one piece of woven horse hair around the outer edge of the curved back pad. Because the couple we gifted the chair to are horse people, and to honor the history of the chair, I very gently handled that piece and placed it back in the chair when I started putting it back together. I just felt that was the "SOUL" of the chair. Something about that spoke to me. The frame, springs and even some of the carved wood work needed repair, which was delicately completed and then the set was finished off with a custom pillow and Tibetan Lamb rug.
This set would be priced at $2,500.
Red, White and BLACK

The Red, White and BLACK pair is a somewhat simple armed pair that came together from the inspiration piece of the Red, White and Black Pendleton. We are in heart of Texas Tech Red Raider country so this color combo is a "live or die" choice for so many! It just made sense! The chairs were not in the best quality when we got them, but have been totally reworked with all parts replaced. They were painted with fun added highlights to the wood carved areas. The accent pieces of Tibetan Lamb to the arms really add an element of FUN and FANCY to the chairs.
This set is available and priced at $2,000. Would deliver for free within 150 mile radius.
Western Benches

The Western Benches are all designed, cut and built from high grade lumber and can be customized to any size and design. We can add trim such as decorative nails, fringe, etc. These pictured were 42"x 13" x 17" and are priced at $400
